We live sustainability

Plastika Balumag has been focusing on sustainability for many years. Be it the heat supply of the building by means of district heating from waste wood (Co2 neutral) from a carpentry workshop, or the waste heat from the compressed air generation from a neighboring company.

From the end of June 2023, Plastika Balumag AG will put its first solar power plant into operation. The 413 modules with an area of 806 m2 generate an output of 169 kW. This corresponds to around 25% of our energy requirement. An innovative 80 kW storage unit allows the excess power to be stored and fed into operation if required.

With this system we are setting an example in the direction of sustainability and ecology.

By consistently purchasing motorized thermoforming and 5-axis CNC milling machines, we save a lot of energy in the form of compressed air.

Since 1988 we have been recycling practically all edge trimmings from our production and using them to produce new panels for high-quality thermoformed parts. Since 2003 we have been shipping the edge trimmings of a US material manufacturer back to the USA in containers several times a year.

Material that cannot be reworked due to small quantities is picked up by a specialized company and sent for recycling. A negligibly small part is disposed of.

As a plastics processor, we do our part to protect the environment and conserve resources.
